I’m not great with dairy and have been trying to cut it out my diet, my protein was the last thing remaining, so thought I would give this a try! I honestly wish I hadn’t bothered!! This is the worst tasting protein I have ever had!! It doesn’t mix well, either in a smoothie or with water!! It has a horrible taste to it that lingers and I can’t even describe what it is and it’s just really powdery, it’s all you can feel when you’re trying to force it down!!! Avoid this at all costs! I’m now stuck with 5kg (bought two as they were on offer!), there’s no way I can force myself to use this! Such a waste of money.
Disgusting overpowering taste. Even added water and a tbsp of cocoa powder but still disgusting! Avoid!
It is full of vital nutrients and BCAAs as well as having a chocolate taste. I admit that it isn’t amazing on its own but when mixed in to a smoothie or shake, it gives it a boost. It is also nice on its own, just better in a smoothie. Would defo buy againGoes Well With:Fruit, milk and a Myprotein shaker
Has the consistency of a mud found on Sunday league football pitch during the winter. Tastes like cement and mixes like it too. Goes Well With:Nothing
Tastes okay. Works really well in smoothies! Great to fight your chocolate craving.
Never written a review before, but thought I'd make an exception on the off chance one person heeds this warning and can save themselves a bit of cash. This is by far the worst tasting protein I've ever consumed. Perhaps the flavoured versions taste better but I would avoid at all costs
I cant say much about effectiveness but this tastes really bad and doesn't mix with water great. I wouldn't recommend this.
I use the chocolate flavor. This is a really affordable Vegan Blend. It mixes fine for a vegan protein powder (meaning it will be grainy but you expect that from anything with hemp) but I don't recommend blending anything sweet with it as it is already incredibly sweet. I tried it with a banana and it was almost too sweet to finish & I have a sweet tooth so that's saying a lot. Even berries can be a bit much if you add too many or sweet nes like strawberries. I usually add cacao and a few frozen raspberries to tone the sweetness down a bit and to add more antioxidants after a workout. I would love it if it was just the pea and hemp but Myprotein doesn't do that blend. The artificial sweetness is an acquired taste but if you can add cacao, it actually turns it rich and chocolatey.Goes Well With:Almond milk, tbsp of cacao and a small handful of frozen mixed berries.
Vegan blend that may contain milk and eggs?
For something that's essentially rice, pea and hemp dust that's flavoured with chocolate you can't expect it to be amazing. I tried it first on its own with water and have to say it wasn't pleasant at all, very grainy and it didn't taste like chocolate. i still wouldn't mind drinking it like this as it's just a quick shake before or after the gym but as I'm drinking it everyday I'd rather make it taste a bit nicer. I blend it (350ML container) with 1 banana, 1tsp of cacao and soya or almond milk. It's far nicer this way, tastes like a thick chocolate smoothie. I would definitely recommend doing this as I imagine you would get sick of it if not.
Well I agree with the reviews about the chocolate protein. On it's own it doesn't taste great. But I blend it with my oat milk 1.5 frozen bananas. Coconut sugar. Apple and cinnamon flavour flax and chia linseed from Holland and Barrett and myprotein organic cacao powder and it's amazing I have it everyday after a work out Goes Well With:Oat milk
First things first, the unflavoured version is inedible; bitter and unpalatable, I struggled to hold it down. Whether mixed with water or an otherwise very sweet smoothie, one scoop will overpower everything and ruin it. Now, as a recently converted vegan, I am transitioning from the excellent Impact Whey, with many genuinely tasty flavours and perfect mixability. In this sense, the Vega Blend is a bit of a let down. Chocolate is the only flavour and it's not particularly strong or sweet; you can still taste the undertone of the unflavoured protein, and texture wise it is very bitty. HOWEVER, despite all this, as a vegan trying to build muscle, there is a lot you can't argue with. Price wise, this is very reasonable; you can get 2.5kg for the price of 910g of vivo life. The chocolate one is passable, and at the end of the day it's 30 seconds to down it then move on, 20g of protein up. Also I can only imagine as the demand for this increases and MyProtein have more time to improve it, the Vegan Blend will become better tasting, more mixable and (hopefully) with more flavours! TL;DR - get the chocolate one, it's alright and you'll make gains
Despite reading this product's negative reviews, I optimistically went ahead with the purchase because I was eager to try out a plant-based protein source at a good price. The other reviewers were correct: this protein is sandy and bitter. I tried hydrating the powder in an overnight oats mixture but the bitterness intensified and it still remained sandy. Based on this experience I will not try incorporating it into any other recipes. I can tolerate chugging the powder when it is mixed with a sugary soy dessert and some nut milk, but I feel sad about the prospect of drinking it. I see this as a purely functional product, one that does not add any joy to my day even if it helps to meet my macros. Goes Well With:Joyless commitment to gains.
The best protein I've had so far... Vegan Protein has a really good taste and it goes well with everything. It gives me an extra power and I loved it. I do recommend it for all vegetarians and vegans. It's really worth!!!!!Goes Well With: Vegan protein goes well with porridge and banana. Also vitamins with avocado, banana, leenseed and chia
I LOVE and rely on this product...but recently, it seems like the make up of this protein has changed. It's difficult to consume now and the aspartame/stevia after taste is very strong. I have to blend it with pea protein and coffee to swallow it. I love the macros and it's great to get my protein macros in...but there were several times where the product was unavailable and the taste changed...so...what's going on? Would LOVE it if the product has less chemicals.... Goes Well With:coffee, pea protein, smoothies
First time trying, really good all round. Will buy again
Think there's a few reviewers here who have some very interesting senses and maybe need to see a Doctor? No it does NOT smell like manure when you open the packet, but a fair chocolate smell. Yes it is hard to mix, more water needed and yes it is grainy. No it does not linger or reappear in burps etc! Yes it has a pleasant chocolate smell. Really can't imagine how it could make someone gag? Odd! With Oat milk it's a dream. Haven't used it long enough to comment on results but others have. It's just nice that it's Vegan and fairly palatable. All in all an excellent product!Goes Well With:Water, Oat milk
Horrible flavor. Doesn't dissolve well, can fill the powder, even after adding much water. Would not recommend to any body
Really love this product, will purchase again Goes Well With:In a banana smoothly, with toast and peanut butter
I have bought vegan proteins before and found them to be undrinkable, but this was delicious. I bought the chocolate smooth and I mix it in a good blender with almond milk, 1 frozen banana, 2 tbsp of cacao powder and 1 tbsp of peanut powder and the result is a cold thick chocolatey cup of deliciousness. I look forward to drinking it everyday now. Goes Well With:Almond milk, cashew milk
