Work Out From Home | Alternative Gym Weights

Your gym might be closed, but that shouldn’t stop you from chasing your goals. There are so many ways to keep on top of your fitness — you just need to be a little bit more creative.

Our amazing community have been finding everyday alternatives for those classic barbells, dumbbells and kettlebells, that we’d like to share. So, if bodyweight exercises just aren’t cutting it, give these a try.

Water Jug Curls

Keeping fit and hydrated, what could be better? Water jugs can be a great alternative to dumbbells, especially if you can’t get to the gym.

They can be used for a variety of exercises, adding that extra weight without the hassle. Try goblet squats or lateral raises with your new ingenious dumbbells.

Holdall Deadlifts

We’ve all got a weekend travel bag gathering dust. Let's face it, we probably won’t be using it any time soon.

So instead of packing for a weekend away, try filling it full of books or anything heavy you’ve got lying around the house. Use your makeshift fitness sandbag for deadlifts, squats, or lunges — the possibilities are endless.

Squat With Your Dog

No animals were harmed in the making of this video — only our legs after all this squatting. This might be one of the cutest workouts ever.

Dogs are not only man’s best friend, but they make great training partners too. Simply grab your furry friend and squat to your heart's content. Let’s hope you don’t own an English Mastiff or St. Bernard for this one.

Stool Tricep Dips

All you need is two sturdy chairs and you can get back to your triceps dips in no time. You really can make a workout from anything. Being creative is a great way to keep your workouts fun.

And, when you’re done, you’ll always have somewhere to sit — win-win.

Take-Home Message

We all might be missing the gym, but we must make the most of our time away and keep trying to achieve our goals.

It might take some clever thinking and some creativity, but you can create workouts from the comfort of your own home.
