I've used the MP Brown Rice Protein for years, but I kept finding small sand and rocks in the powder, so I decided to try the organic white rice protein instead. And yes it is cleaner and finer. I like the fact that it's mixes better and has a higher protein contents than brown rice protein. Best of all it's organic. Tip for fellow vegans: If you add just 2 grams of vegan leucine to a shake of rice protein it becomes just as potent as the best whey protein. According to a large study: "The effects of 8 weeks of whey or rice protein supplementation on body composition and exercise performance." I am pretty good at trying new flavours and just...tolerating a flavour if what i am eating is good for me..but this tastes so bad. :( i was expecting a chalky taste/texture but the mixability with smoothies is decent. its just the flavour tastes off-like fairy liquid or something. really really horrible. its ruined my smoothie and i added banana, stevia, peanut butter, mushroom complex and mesquite so theres a lot going on but all i can taste is the fairy liquid rice powder! :( do not reccomened for smoothie use. i might try and use it in baking / pancakes hopefully cooking changed this awful tasteGoes Well With:not much so far
I recently made the decision to go vegetarian and whilst I haven't made the leap to vegan, I generally try to use non-animal products as often as I can. When I spotted MyProtein's Organic Rice Protein powder, I decided that it would be a perfect addition to my diet, as I'm finding it hard to hit my macro goals on protein without overloading on fat. For what it provides, this stuff is amazing. A 30g serving provides 24g of protein with less than 1g of fat and .4g of carbs! This product has a very unoffensive taste and is perfect to use in cooking. I regularly use it in soups, curries, and stews, plus it's great to use as a sauce base (to make a roux) as it has a similar consistency to flour. Unfortunately, I find it seriously difficult to consume this product in water! I guess if you're somebody who's used to drinking stuff like creatine, you'd be able to get over the texture, but the Rice Protein powder stays quite grainy when mixed with just water and if left, will separate in about five minutes. Note: I have only mixed this using a shaker bottle, so it might be different when blended. Overall, nutritionally AMAZING but a bit too grainy for me! Goes Well With:Blended into soups, used for sauce bases, mixed into curries and stews!
