What are Organic Cacao Liquor Buttons?

Containing a host of active substances, Cacao beans are the raw base for chocolate manufacture. Originating from the tropical climates in South America, the Theobroma Cacao tree was considered sacred amongst the Mayans and Aztecs. On its own, the Cacao beans are a fine “superfood” as they foster a variety of nutrients. Produced by organic growers,  and harvested by hand as pods, the raw beans are selected for the finest quality and fermented to reduce their initial bitterness. Cacao Liquor is made by pressing ground, milled Cacao nibs to make a Cacao paste. The paste is then melted to become the liquor. The liquor is cooled and moulded into button shapes. Organic Cacao Liquor Buttons are certified organic by the Soil Association under the code GB-ORG-05.

Yum

They are bitter but you'll get used to them after a short period of regular consumption. As a regular snack I melt them in the microwave for 30 seconds and it makes a perfect chocolate spread on toast or pancakes.
Goes Well With:
Toast. Pancakes. Hot Chocolate

Kills the cravings

Use this to kill a sugary chocolate craving, keep them in the fridge and grab one when Im rummaging for a treat. These are much cheaper than others!
Goes Well With:
strong coffee, porridge

Soo bitter

These are so bitter I struggled not to spit it out. I usually take 70-85% chocolate, those are not for snacking but can use for cooking and hot chocolate. The good thing is when you taste one you definitely lose your cravings!
Goes Well With:
nut milk n maple syrup as hot chocolate

Had one, now they're in the bin.

These taste disgusting  I tried one, spat it out and the rest of the bag have gone in the bin. If you're after a little chocolate fix just stick with high percent shop bought dark chocolate!
Goes Well With:
The bin.

Not what I expected

Unfortunately, these fell in to the "cooking chocolate" taste for me (which isn't a good thing). I melted them down and used them to make chocolates. Initially I thought it was the seeds I added and then questioned the mould but when I ate the buttons on their own I realised it was the taste. The consistency was good but the taste was not good! I wouldn't buy these again.

Very intense chocolate hit!

I bought these to curb my 3pm cadbury craving. The buttons are very nice and provide a very intense bitter chocolate taste which is great if you're a lover of very dark chocolate. These will last a long time for me as 2 buttons is enough to get me through the mid afternoon chocolate melt down and doesn't send my blood sugar through the roof.
Goes Well With:
A cup of coffee

Great cacao buttons

These are exactly what you'd expect, just great tasting cacao buttons. No more, no less.
Goes Well With:
Porridge, baking, etc.

Great stuff and price

First off, these are the best price I have found. I use them as additions to my daily green smoothies or then to make my own regular or hot chocolate or chocolate glaze for various treats. I used to buy liquor pieces, randomly sized, which was a pain for smoothies as they needed to be cut. Buttons are very convenient.
Goes Well With:
smoothies, ingredient for home-made chocolate
