This high protein cheese was a product that i 1st tried from another seller and find a much better alternative now to regular reduced fat cheese and the full fat cheddar, what's mad is the flavour does not suffer due to being more nutritionally superior and lower in fat. Overall great product, slightly more expensive than the regular versions but contains much less fat delivering more protein and being a top notch product. Got two blocks of cheese, awesome nutritional values and obviously better alternative to normal cheddar cheese in terms of nutritional values. Taste wise it's a bit meh, depends to be honest. You can mix this with your omelets it's decent but not really much taste but again it's the healthier option. I have it usually with toast in the morning, one thing is eat it when it's hot the longer you take the more rubbery it gets to the point where it becomes a Jaw workout(bonus maybe? 🤔). But for real of course it's not going to taste like legit real cheddar cheese premium wow amazing pizza stuff. It's meant to be a healthier version for cheese lovers who are also gym lovers. Personally ill keep using this product, I like it tastes alright but key thing is it's nutritional values and being a good replacement for that fat standard cheese. Goes Well With:Anything you can melt cheese with. Toast. Side of protien shake drink. On its own.
Love this cheese on my pizza low in fat and calories Goes Well With:Pizza
This stuff is great and can be used in so many ways! Grate this on your meals or scrambles and greatly boosts protein content! Brilliant macros too! Smoked flavour is lit, haven't tried the normal yet tho.Goes Well With:Adding to meals
This stuff is a ting mixed in with meals, make yourself that cheese on toast as a snack whack beans on there. Macros are a blessed... erry ting blessedGoes Well With:Beans
Once you get past the fact that this isn't premium cheddar, as a vegetarian that doesn't eat eggs, this is a really effective way to up your protein intake quickly whilst limiting fat intake. You can eat this as a block of cheese and for me it's nicer than a protein shake and surprisingly moreish but be careful with portion sizes. A 100G block will give you 37G protein, however, also 2G salt, which is 1/3 your recommended max intake of 5 - 6G. If you combine this with two slices of the Dr Zak's high protein bread total salt would be 3.2G, and that's just potentially one meal for the day. If the manufacturers could look into a low salt version that would be great, but I'm not sure what that would do to the taste. The moreish factor may be due to the salt content and I did find myself reaching for a drink soon after eating it. Texture is slightly rubbery, but not as rubbery as 'cheesestrings' (only thing I could think of!). I'd say give it a go and see what you think if like me, you're looking to up your protein outside of the shakes and don't eat eggs. Otherwise, I'd say just eat more eggs!Goes Well With:Protein Bread, or a block on it's own
I'm a bulk-buyer of protein cheese but I've been mixing it up lately between unflavoured and smoked varieties. First of all, they're both great. Amazing stats, great taste and really versatile. However, if you have the choice, while some may prefer the taste of the smoked variety, there is a marked difference in texture. The unflavoured has a much better texture, with the smoked feeling much harder and more "rubbery". While I do slightly prefer the taste of the smoked, if I had to chose between the two I think I'd probably go for the unflavoured because it's a much nicer experience overall to eat.Goes Well With:Protein bread or zero spaghetti
I love cheese, cheese and crisps are my downfall! So finding both a low fat/carb cheese which tastes and feels like the 'real' thing is a godsend! I now don't feel that I am depriving myself, if I fancy some cheese I can have some! The plain and smoked (currently out of stock sadly) are both very good and healthy. I haven't tried cooking with it so can't comment on that but may be trying some cheese on toast so will let you all know!Goes Well With:The high protein crisps!
I don't know how people can complain about the taste, obviously its not gonna have the same taste as normal cheese as it's virtually fat free, full of protein and low carb. I think this product is brilliant. Eating cheese guilt free when your cutting off the pounds is a win, win situation. Goes Well With:Home made pizza , jacket potatoes, sandwiches.
Bought some of this opened the packet after a few days, the cheese was green with mould! Complained to my protein and they did nothing about it! Shocking Goes Well With:Cardboard
Just finished my 3rd 350g block, a fan you might think, well not if you like the true flavours of cheese. It has absolutely no taste, you may as well be eating one of those semi translucent erasers that found there way on to students desks, back when we used pencils and drew diagrams. So you will be thinking, why have you worked your way through nearly a kilo of the stuff? I'm not on an excess protein kick, nor am I on an extreme low fat diet, though if the claim of 2% fat is true, its a tick in the box for anyone concerned about cholesterol levels. I am intrigued by the calcium levels, and that, for me, and anyone with losing bone mass, has to find this product of interest. I've always eaten cheese generally, in a measured way, I love to discover the subtlety of flavours available, strong but not necessarily savage, nutty, mellow, textures that are firm or crumbly, the occasional Stilton wedge. This stuff is non of those, so you don't need to pretend its some wonderful Cheddar that tastes divine and sits in your refrigerator as a great cheese. What it is, is a panacea that meets certain expectations and desires of its users, those on high protein diets, crash and hold diets, and in my case, stemming the tide of a life of wear and tear. I'm certainly not going to be eating this stuff, to the detriment of real cheese, there are too many pleasures to miss. As an aside, I stumbled on this brick of milky, faded yellow stuff, in a local 'low cost' supermarket, it was a 'special offer', and as such I have not found it easy to find, I'm now down to the last 350g, and in truth won't miss it on the grounds of taste. The point is, where do you find it on the shelf, I'm certainly not keen enough to order by post, or confident it would find its way through the delivery system in a fine and edible state. In summary, if it floats your boat, all well and good, but don't claim its a fantastic cheese, it isn't. I reviewed this after my first try, my opinion has not been swayed by eating more Goes Well With:Have not tried anything more than artisan crackers and usually a rye/sourdough bread, at least they have some flavour. I would guess, if grated and left to 'dry' in the fridge, it might pass as a pizza and pasta sprinkle, but I stick with Parmesan. Anyone tried this in a mouse trap? it would stay on the spike well!
The cheese is great when melted on an omelette etc. Adds flavour while having great nutritional value. However, as it's not a traditional cheese, it isn't so nice when it's not melted so I would have to recommend it for cooking only. Goes Well With:When melted its great on omelettes, pizza, chilli etc
Love this product! Tastes amazing and low in smart points - for any fellow weight watchers reading! Goes Well With:Everything!
Great nutritional value and has a great smokey taste to it compared to the normal unflavoured cheese. Great little addition to salads, sandwiches etc. Goes Well With:Toast, salad, baked potato
This is literally the best thing since sliced bread! Whether or not you like this will depend on your goals. For me, as someone who tries to keep to a low fat diet, cheese has been off the menu for years now. And prior to getting fit, cheese was my absolute favourite food. Now I have a product which tastes like my favourite food but has next to no fat, no carbs, low calorie and is nearly pure protein with 37g/100g... I mean I couldn't have wished for better! In terms of taste - it tastes exactly like mild cheddar. I'd always go for the smoked variety if it's in stock to add a bit more flavour. The texture is harder and slightly chewier than normal cheese BUT it melts and toasts really well, you can literally do anything you'd do with normal cheese with it. Granted, if you don't care about the fat content of your food then this one won't be for you but for anyone else this product is absolutely amazing! I can have cheese on toast (25g cheese) for under 100 calories and get 10g protein from it... mad! I love it.
I was so excited to find this High Protein cheese because as a Type 2 diabetic who keeps to a low carb / low GI diet to be able to stay off medications it is ideal. However when I tasted it disappointment set in. This cheese is far too mild for me. I like something with a bit of taste to it. The texture is dry owing to the extremely low fat content which means it really doesn't melt or grill properly like normal cheese but does add protein. On my diet ( typical diabetic diet for those in the know which does not include the medical profession ) fat is not restricted so it would be great if you could come up with a tasty strong cheddar with a higher fat content . Thanks for trying anyway.Goes Well With:Not a lot as so dry.
this cheese is superb when you are trying to eat healthily. It melts really well and is great used in cooking. Its not as good eaten " cold" but its ok,.having said that the smoked version I find ok any way. Its unbelievable that a cheese can be so low in calories etc and on Weight Watchers the points are so low. A great help to your. diet .The texture when melted on toast is quite chewy so takes longer to eat which of course is a good thing!!Goes Well With:most cheese dishes
I was really hoping this was going to be a permanent replacement, but, no. At first look, it looks like it might do the trick that is until you start to eat it. It tastes like a very cheap cheddar and then somehow I get a pineapple after taste. I cooked it into an omelette and it wasn't too bad but there's no way I could stomach a cheese only omelette with this stuff. On the plus side, I think it's put me off cheese in general so I'm gonna cut some calories out thereGoes Well With:So far, nothing
At first the cheese seems a bit dry and hard to cut, but its absolutely great melted! I cant tell the difference between this and full fat cheese. I had melted over burgers, pizza, all sorts! The flavour is really natural and doesn't taste synthetic at all. For anyone on Slimming World, you can have 65g of the smoked version or 70g unsmoked as your healthy extra A, which is a massive portion compared to the 40g you can have of light cheddar. I will definitely purchase again! Goes Well With:Burgers, hot sandwiches, pizza
This high protein cheese is so versatile. I can eat my favourite comfort foods without worry. Great on taste, flavourful. Pricey...but worth stretching the budget, if you are serious about your health.Goes Well With:Food! Macaroni and Cheese. Cheese on toast. Cheesy dumplings. Lasagne. On sandwiches.
