MyProtein do some great products. This isn't one of them. It's gritty and burned my throat. The first and only time I've ever gagged and been unable to even hold my nose and drink some protein. Fortunately they gave me a refund.Goes Well With:The bin, a source of food for interrogated terrorist suspects that you want to crack.
Would not recommend this product worst tasting product I have had the misfortune to buy, the only saving grace was my protein replaced it straight away Goes Well With:Black bin bags
Buying again! I really like the taste of the chocolate one, its a bit powdery but its not bad at all! For lunch I'll put one scoop in the blender along with different nuts and seeds, sometimes a banana and/or some berries, add some water or hemp/oat/rice/soy milk and it tastes awesome! Just like milkshake :) Would recommend!
It doesn't blend and tastes awful and nothing masks it. I won't be buying it again.
Tastes absolutely disgusting, thoroughly disappointed. Texture is rank, after taste is vile, so is the coating it leaves in your mouth. Vegan protein doesn't have to taste like this, I'm going to take my business back to Sci Max, their vegan formulae is much better taste and texture. I loved the whey protein here but now I'm vegan there is nothing for me here. Even with lots of the flavodrops, all I can taste is the disgusting powder. I've tried it in a shake and now porridge. Both are in the bin. Don't waste your money on this, it's absolutely vile. Goes Well With:The Bin. Nothing else.
This is the first time I have used this product. The taste/flavour of chocolate is OK but the powder just does not mix well. Its very gritty to drink no matter how long I shake if for. Disappointed.
THE most disgusting protein I've ever tried! BAR NON! Doesn't really mix well, leaves a lining in your mouth that you can't seem to wash away and I felt queezy for a few hours after. Make your own mind up fron that but I'm never touching this again.
I really don't know where the 4 star rating for this product is derived from-- I suspect that the company have put in a bunch of filler votes or some such nefariousness. The profile of this supplement looks great and I was very much looking forward to it after dropping Sci-MX's amazing tasting Pro V-Gain due to the high soya content and was hoping for a similar experience with "Chocolate Smooth" here... Chocolate? Smooth? Absolutely and categorically not!! Chalky, horrible to mix and tastes horrendous :S I'm frankly shocked that such a poor-tasting and mixing product has made it to the shelves... unfortunately I've bought 5kg of this stuff and am not doubting that it's settled well in my stomach and probably does have the good amino mix of pea, rice and hemp proteins that seems a good vegan profile... however My Protein really-- it's 2016 not 1996-- you can't seriously expect this horrific taste to pass muster when there are some amazing veggie and vegan shakes on the market- for instance Sci-MX's old Pro VX tasted pretty poor so they upped their game with Pro V-Gain to keep customers. On the evidence of what you've sent me I would never use your products again, nor recommend them to any of the 15 athletes that I coach...Goes Well With:The bin?
May be I am not lucky and the pack delivered to me, was spoiled somehow or was out of term or just about personal preferences, but that blend is sooo sweet. Too much sugar within it, and as well as not mixing well, granules of powder or chocolate are remaining. Maybe something wrong wirh chocolate flavor??
Used this about 2 months ago. I developed gastritis a few weeks after using both unflavoured and chocolate smooth. Had to use gastro resistant meds to allow my gut lining to heal, and am still using them. So I stopped using the blend. To test out my hypothesis, after about two weeks of no blend I consumed a scoop with water after usual training and got stomach aches and flatulence. Went off it again and it went away. Don't know what the story is but I won't be using it again
Brilliant to have a vegan blend. Tastes pretty good and does the job. If I could change anything I'd have a healthier sweetener in it. This is the only thing that puts me off buying it long term. Otherwise brilliant. Goes Well With:Porridge and also yoghurt.
--OTHER VEGAN POWDERS-- After initially trying an unflavoured pea isolate powder due to it's very cheap cost I ended up moving to Soy isolate due to pea's very strong (horrible) smell/taste, despite its great mixability. My Soy powder was smooth chocolate so the taste was very palatable, despite a slight artificial taste to it. The problems with Soy Isolate however, are related to firstly its mixability.... which is fine in a blender or shaker (although sometimes needing to scrape the sides) although it was so thick with even only 1 scoop, needing up to 500ml of milk substitutes or water despite saying it only needed 250-350ml. Secondly after reading up more, eating a lot of soy based products for protein (Soy mince, Tofu, etc), which is often the case on a vegan diet, has potential side affects due to phytoestrogen and I don't think any guy would want to risk that... --THE VEGAN BLEND-- So now I decided to buy a pouch of Chocolate smooth Vegan Blend. The full range of amino acids from the three types of non-soy isolate plus the added enzymes mean the most well rounded (and thus affective) protein powder there is. The other powders don't compare and as being soy-free it makes it considerably harder for me to "overdo" soy products on my vegan diet. The Taste is much better than the Soy Isolate, feeling slightly 'grainy' which gives a natural organic taste which is amazing. The mixability is great and doesn't form a thick shake meaning you don't have to drink as much fluid to get more protein. (350ml for 25-30g of Protein compared so Soy Isolates 700ml for the same amount) On top of that each 'scoop' or 30g of powder is only 3/4 of a scoop rather than Soy and Pea's 1 1/4 Scoops, meaning you make more of the pouch, despite it's higher price (that is 150% worth it). This is the powder that I will buy again and again and again. I 100% reccommend any Vegans or individuals on a Non-dairy diet to buy this product - you won't regret it.Goes Well With:Water, Milk substitutes w/ banana
I like vegan blend, taste is not so perfec, but it doesn't make you sick, so thats ok. Unflavoured proteins shouldn't be tasty :) Goes Well With:I mix it with some oat milk or rice milk, taste momentarily become better.
Okay, so the texture is not great, but not horrid either. Just a bit gritty. But the chocolate flavour is great. The idea that you can get 30g of protein from completely plant based products is great. I honestly look forward to after I work out to when I can drink this. Goes Well With:Just water really. But goes great on my porridge with almond milk and blueberries.
Before purchasing this product I was reading some of the other reviews and I wasn't sure if to purchase it since everybody was banging on the terrible taste and so on...luckily I went for it anyway and let me tell you that it just tastes like usual proteins. This is not the first time I use proteins and before I became vegetarian I used to buy regular proteins, let me tell you that whoever said that they taste like mud probably bought proteins for the first time in their life. This proteins taste as all proteins do, and obviously as all proteins if mixed with water the taste is not the best. If you can't take it with water just by one of the following almond milk, cashew milk, rice milk, soya milk and so forth and mix it with it. In conclusion fantastic product cheap and effective, I love it Goes Well With:Cashew milk
This was revolting. So chalky that it went straight in the bin.
The chocolate flavor tastes reasonably nice and goes well with any sort of vegan milk substitute (almond/coconut/oat milks etc.). The only problem is that there is a noticeable sandy and grainy sort of consistency, which you wont find in your regular whey shakes. This is further amplified if you mix it only with water. Making a shake with oats and some frozen fruit however eliminates the sandy feel to the point where its barely noticeable. Goes Well With:Vegan milks, Oats, Frozen fruit
If you want to be able to drink this in chocolate then good luck to you as I unfortunately bought 2 large bags of it and tried it and found it was the worst tasting thing iv'e ever had and wish I had stuck to whey Protein in chocolate which I find very good so iv'e now got 2 bags that will end up in the bin costly lesson learnt. Goes Well With:the bin as I think thats the place mine is going
Bought this after buying the brown rice protein (as I found the flavour unpalatable, but it works if you make pancakes!) and I'm really happy with my purchase, it's a bit sweet for my tastes, but if I add slightly more water than recommended, that improves. The texture is ok, much less chalky than the brown rice protein, overall very happy
This protein mix is very handy for ensuring you get adequate protein pre/post workout. It is made without soy, which is also good given the varied opinions on the risks associated. It has good protein content and digestive enzymes which is a great idea The chocolate one mixes quite well (it is a lot smoother in a blender than in a protein shake beaker). If using this with plant milk, I would use unsweetened milk as the powder is very sweet due to the surlcralose. This is an artificial sweetener which won't sit well with some. In that case, Myprotein sell an unflavoured version. Due to the veg based ingredients, I find this very earthy and it takes a lot of vegan milkshake powder to make it palatable. Overall these are great value for money and a convenient way of ensuring you get enough protein as a vegan.
