So I thought this may be good to mix in with my chocolate milk, I was wrong, very wrong! It goes really super lumpy and leaves you with chewy lumpy bits of pea in there, making it undrinkable. If you use half a cup you can use it in soup, as long as you like thick soup that is!Goes Well With:Soup
I wouldn't bother making anything sweet with this unless you put very little in. Use it in soup! (or anything savoury for that matter) 1/2 a scoop will mix into a can of soup nicely about 1/4 max for cupper soup (mixes and tastes great this way!) With normal soup I mixed it in before cooking and went well, It will add a pea taste so pick soup well. Tomato works pretty good... Just mix to taste and add in every meal you can to meet targets. I also plan to try with tomato juice & herbs since It mixes with tomato well. I will be using Soy to complete intake since It'l mix in with sweet better.Goes Well With:Soup and savoury foods(Cupper soup works great)
I hadn't tried unflavored proteins before and anticipated it to taste gross. Well, it doesn't taste bad but not too good for shakes. It doesn't dissolve and leaves a residue on the shaker bottle. But it goes great with salty foods. Works great in pancake batter, soups and sauces. Makes them a bit thicker and gives a nice flavor.Goes Well With:Salty food
I have bought this product in the past and use in porridge and cooking. The last packet that I received tasted very different and does not mix as well as previous ones? Have you changed the ingredients? It is not as good now.
The one thing that always annoyed me about being Vegan was the poor quality of Vegan protein options there are, compared to whey protein (which is incredibly easy to mix without chalky, dirty tastes). I've purchased MyProtein's Vegan Blend (both unflavoured and chocolate smooth) and both were average. They did the job, but they would always have that chalky taste when mixing with anything. If you ever did two scoops of vegan blend then blending it with other ingredients were almost impossible, and required an insane high amount of liquid (ie. water) so it doesn't go to thick. Eventually, it ends up tasting incredibly heavy leaving you feeling bloated. I thought I'd try Pea Protein isolate, and was expecting a grass, nasty flavour. But I was fortunately VERY wrong! Pea Protein isolate, in terms of texture and ease of mix/blend, is almost identical to whey protein. Soft, fluffy and very easy to mix (and I usually have two scoops). There's absolutely 0 chalky after taste. I haven't tried Pea Protein on it's own yet, I usually mix it with a banana and cacao powder and it tastes amazing. I'm very happy to of finally found a vegan protein powder which doesn't make me feel hesitant when drinking! Goes Well With:Banana, Cacao Powder, any non-dairy milk
Just finished my first bag of this. The taste is different, I won't deny that it took some getting used to. But after about a week I had no problem downing the whole thing. I use a blender to mix it, I wouldn't suggest a shaker. I add soy milk and a frozen banana, the frozen banana turns it into a slight milkshake which makes it nicer. Very easy on the stomach compared to whey. Muscle recovery is quick, even on high intensity days I have little or no doms the next day.Goes Well With:Soy milk and a frozen banana Try a spoon of PB too
It mixes well with water when you shake it. good amount of protein, vegan. However it does not taste very good. I tried just with water and I found it undrinkable contrary to pea protein from Pulsin which is good. However, I mixed it with My Protein soy protein vanilla flavor or with active women vegan blend and it takes great. So i would recommend to add it with something else and not drink it only with waterGoes Well With:My Protein soy protein vanilla flavor or with active women vegan blend. In a smoothy or soup.
With having crohns disease and struggle with anything whey related, this was something that was part of my daily routine till recently, the latest batch has been changed and whatever has been done to it certainly has changed it for the worseGoes Well With:doesnt mix well at all with anything
I do not doubt the positive effects it might have on your health and the fact that it will help me with my protein intake. But, god! how can something taste so revolting! I tried mixing it with everything to make it taste edible, but it just makes everything taste like dust. I tried drinking it like a normal shake after work outs, but it keeps coming back out; I tried drinking it really fast so I would not taste it, but on the second swallow by body would still reject it and I gag uncontrollably. Bear in mind this is just my opinion and my bodily reaction. May be you will like itGoes Well With:Dust?
It tastes awful but if you keep at it you get used to it. I have been using it for about a year now and I am very happy with my gains, in fact my muscles feel more solid since I started to use it. Another thing about it is I feel my recovery is much quicker after a workout and it doesn't feel so heavy in my stomach compared to whey protein. Mixing it in the shaker can be tricky but I find if you put the water in first then add the powder it mixes very well. Give it a try if you haven't used it before, just stick with it and after a few weeks you wont taste it any more. Goes Well With:Water
I used to purchase this regularly and it used to taste neutral, mix well and was effective. Got a new batch recently and was shocked as to how different it tastes, it is almost unpalatable. Not sure what has changed in the manufacturing but MP need to revert back.
This protein is a no go, it has a horrible aftertaste that lingers and is impossible to disguise. Also it doesn't mix well at all and it all seems to settle at the bottom. I would definitely avoid this and stick to whey.
I have used so many MyProtein products, I would recommend them all. However, this product is disgusting. The texture and the flavour are like drinking dust, and even when mixed with 3x a regular flavoured whey protein, it is difficult to swallow. I'm not very picky when it comes to flavours (I actually like every food I ever tried) but I don't think this should be even sold. And I can't believe so many positive comments. I do not recommend this at all. Please, avoid it at all costs and go for any other MyProtein products.Goes Well With:Removed tastebuds
This stuff is vile. Even in soup - I have a near full bag if anyone wants it. This is the first My Protein products that I just can't stomach so won't be re-ordering or recommending. I'll stick to the non vegan stuff from now on. Goes Well With:Nothing.
The taste of this is horrid. I tried to mask the taste with almond milk, but it still doesn't help. I will not be buying it again. It's a struggle to drink it everytime. Don't buy it.
After reading numerous reviews I thought I would be able to stomach this alone.... I was so wrong. I don't think I've ever had something so unbelievably REVOLTING. It has an acidic yet chalky taste, which has a horrific aftertaste. I initially mixed it with a hot chocolate, I say mixed but I really just had lots of large bubbles of revolting-ness throughout my once delicious hot chocolate. On a more positive note, when mixed into a banana smoothie with a high speed blender this stuff works like a dream, admittedly it still leaves a horrible aftertaste. But I recover faster, I feel stronger, and I can certainly see my muscles developing. I don't get as sore after a big training session, which means I can walk! It is relatively inexpensive compared to other vegan proteins out there, if only it had a more discrete taste.Goes Well With:Banana smoothies
I'm always looking for sources of savory protein because Whey gets sickening over longer periods. So I decided to give the unflavoured Pea Protein a try. Yes, it has a chalky-sandy consistency and it gets way creamier than whey, both making it perfect for little soups and creams! It tastes AMAZING with green curry paste and a little bit of low-fat coconut milk. You can add some croutons, corn and mushrooms to make it a full meal. You can easily down 50 grams of protein in a sit and not even feel it. It also tastes great with soy sauce and I'm sure it'll be amazing with Miso paste as well. Adding anything salty to it brings up some of the earthy flavour. You can also make a thick past with it and mix it with mashed potato, pumpkin or whatever mashed stuff you like. Definitely buying some more.Goes Well With:Curry paste, soy sauce,
Tastes absolutely vile, almost like drinking chalk. However, 2 stars because it doesnt make me bloated like whey has been doing I'll try it in recipes rather than just as a drink.Goes Well With:Not spinach!
I got the unflavoured stuff, i have tried to mask the taste with a number of things with very little success. There is no escaping the texture which is like fine sand. Does the job. It's protein. I wouldn't go for it again if I'm honest at least it's taste will ensure you won't be drinking it when you don't really need to. And no one will be stealing a scoop.Goes Well With:Strong flavours swiftly followed by a glass of water
Good luck keeping this down - this and MP HEMP protein are like tasting the devils love juice! Goes Well With:The Rubbish bin
