I wanted to try something new, and everything went to the bin! The taste is horrible, I almost vomited after the first sip. Tried to mix it with water, milk, juice... Still the same. I'm sure biologically is a great product, but life is hard enough to drink this horrible shake. Sorry MyProteins, just my personal opinion! Don't buy it unless you are a strictly Vegan, then, well, I'm sorry for you.
The test is extremely repulsive, I could not finish it, the same as a friend of mine.
"Isn't life already hard enough?", I wondered after taking my first and very last sip of this stuff. The answer, my fellow animal friendly gainerz, is very clearly... NO. To those of you who gave this anything other than 1 star, may god bless you all. Clearly stronger and better men than I. The smell is exactly like flaked fish food. If that was the intention, then I applaud whoever works in the smell department over at MyProtein. A job well done. "UNFLAVOURED" – LOL The taste and consistency when mixed with water leave nothing to the imagination. Taste is offensive at best. Consistency is what I imagine wet cement to taste/feel like in the mouth. Still, if you're set on saving animals, the world and all its inhabitants in turn, i'd suggest just avoiding this protein entirely... Those poor peas died in vain. Goes Well With:Pour into a bin and forget it ever happened :)
I believe it's a great source of plant based protein, so I bought it to replace whey with it. Tastewise it's a bit rough, so I added some leftover chocolate flavoured Hurricane Extreme - this way you get a better flavour and better mixability. The powder's texture is so fine, that the slightest air movement could create a cloud of it :) So transfer it very very gently.Goes Well With:any other flavoured product or hot chocolate powder
This tastes like sand mixed with marmite and dog biscuits! Seriously, it's almost impossible to drink it just adding water. However, I found out that mixing it up with cocoa powder makes it drinkable.Goes Well With:- cocoa powder - banana
I'm an optimist. I switched from vegetarianism to veganism recently and had ran out of whey protein, so I decided to give the pea protein isolate a try. I read the reviews about the bad taste of this product, but assumed the reviews were exaggerated. Because there was a sale, I bought 2.5kg. Curse my optimism!! This is probably one of the worst tasting things to ever enter my mouth. Truly horrible with a bad aftertaste that stays in your mouth. The powder is fine (a dust cloud erupts from the bag when you open it) and smells like fish food. HOWEVER - it is well priced, vegan and has good nutritional credentials. I can't complain too much. I've tried mixed it with a few things - none were good, but some made the shake drinkable. Cocoa and maple syrup has been the most palatable. Squash and water was okay. I tried cinnamon and maple syrup but that had no masking effect whatsoever. If you mix with water the powder dissolves well, but if you mix with almond milk/rice milk etc it forms a paste unless you add a large volume. My best advice is to down it all as fast as you can and chase with something to cover the aftertaste. I haven't tried the soy alternative, but in hindsight I would have chosen that product instead. Unless that one is awful too. In which case, try this!Goes Well With:Cocoa and maple syrup
I normally buy another brand that I mix with some maple syrup, banana etc and I could drink it all day. Decided to try My Protein as there was a very good discount. It's awful, there's a really bad after taste, almost chemical, its way too thick and made me look about 7 months pregnant after drinking it. I was uncomfortable all night, slept terrible too. Where are you guys sourcing the pea protein from? It's really bad! I've 2.5 kilos of it and it's for the bin... pity...Goes Well With:The bin
I tried several different types of proteins (whey, hemp, rice, pea) but this pea protein is by far the best for me. When I started with protein shakes I preferred flavoured ones but by time I started to lean forward natural, unflavoured whey then tried the other alternatives. I love it's taste (I know it's not for everybody) it mixes very well. My latest "recipe" is to add a couple pinch of salt and some ground white pepper in it and mix it with warm (not hot) water. (I add 1 1/2 or 2 scoops of protein in a 7dl blender) Seriously I could drink it all day. It's a tasty thick cream of pea. :) yumm Would never change it back to whey again.Goes Well With:warm water, salt, white pepper
I've been looking for a decent protein for a while and at first was put off by others claiming the protein tasted awful. After I looking other product reviews I realised that most protein powders have some amount of negativity regarding either taste or texture, so went ahead and ordered some! Anywho: this stuff is great in smoothies/shakes. Cannot taste it at all. I don't reccomend you use it for anything hot though as that does intensify whatever taste is there. (Tried it in oats: just no!) chocolate flav drops/ flavourings cover a multitude of sins if the taste does bother you. I've found if I mix this with a soy yoghurt (1/2 scoop therabouts) that fruits like raspberries and strawberries cover the taste entirely - plus v macro friendly. Also agree with previous review: if you struggle, just pinch your nose and down it :) Goes Well With:Smoothie/shake : (banana, chocolate flav drops, vanilla almond milk) Fresh zingy fruits (all da berries)
Twas reading the "Punched like a bear" review that clinched the deal. In possession of this nectar of the gods, I feel worthy enough to wield Thor's hammer and take on the hoards of Jotunheim single handed. There are not enough weights in the Gym to lift. Behold my awesome power, none may stand against me. The power in my limbs know no bounds. Goes Well With:Asgardian Ale
Good source or protein- mixes well. Its a great alternative to Whey and doesnt have the sweeteners that other proteins have. However, as stupid as it sounds- when it says unflavoured it's not like the other unflavoured Whey proteins- this is pea protein and tastes like peas....... just hold your nose and drink it :) Goes Well With:water
I purchased 2.5kg and was able to stomach two shakes made with this. The taste is all consuming, no natural ingredient added to offset will be tasted. The after a mouthful you have the feeling a powder sticking to the farthest reaches of your mouth and a dryness that feels like you've been running with no liquid intake on a very hot day. I can't comment on the effectiveness apart from the facial wrinkles induced from the faces I was making after every sip. I have just short of 2.5kgs left free to anyoneGoes Well With:Carrot sticks if made into houmus
I have been using the impact whey protein and I was used a a gently flavoured smooth shake. I thought for a change and to reduce my dairy intake (and the price reduction helped), I'd try this variety. I tasted the difference in my shake, which is pretty heavily flavoured fruit and veg blended shake. The taste & texture of the shake was as if I'd taken a large handful of dried chick peas and then a sip of shake, mouth felt very dry and grainy. My wife decided to have a try with just milk and had to split it out, no amount of added flavourings was taking the taste away. I am gutted as I've bought 2.5kg so my shakes are going to be below there usual standard for the next few months. Overall, only buy if you really like the texture and taste of chewed up chick peas, if not avoid!Goes Well With:Houmus (as it's the same taste) not milk, water, veg shakes or fruit shakes
I thought I'd try both the Pea Protein Isolate and Soy Protein Isolate, as a cheaper and presumingly healthier alternative to whey protein. However, both left my stomach feeling nauseous and acidic for hours after use. They both mix into a weird thick puree which increases in thickness regardless of how much water/milk you add. I ordered unflavoured but both products definitely have an extremely strong natural flavour which ruminates. I tried adding these to meals and various smoothies but have had no luck. I can't comment on it's effectiveness as I've had to discontinue using. I'd definitely avoid these products. Goes Well With:Nothing
If you are planning on drinking this protein powder on your own then dont because it tastes pretty disgusting. But i mix it with frozen berries and a bannana and its not bad, really healthy shake nice and cheap and effective. Would recommend only if you mix it or have strong taste buds
The pea protein is the best i have used and the best price, it mixes really easy and you is a quality product.Goes Well With:Flavour drops almond milk
I was after a protein powder that had low or no lactose/soy and was recommended by MP to try the pea protein isolate. What can I say, absolutely disgusting...how can people drink this? Are they that desperate? Any recommendations for lactose and soy free protein powder???Goes Well With:The devils chuff
It's not the best tasting protein but it's definitely not the worst. It mixes well and is smooth so goes down easily. Customer service from Myprotein is exceptional and delivery is always really prompt
For a tasteless product this tastes disgusting unless disguised with heavily flavoured food. Went well in bolognese with lots of read wine. Defeats the object. Also found it mixed ok with fruit blends Powder to disguise taste. It did not go well with chicken soup. I bought it thinking it would go well in savoury foods but not impressed. I will not buy this again. Goes Well With:Fruit blends powder, red wine bolognese. Anything with a flavour to overpower the taste of this.
So I thought this may be good to mix in with my chocolate milk, I was wrong, very wrong! It goes really super lumpy and leaves you with chewy lumpy bits of pea in there, making it undrinkable. If you use half a cup you can use it in soup, as long as you like thick soup that is!Goes Well With:Soup
