It is also found naturally in dairy products, eggs, soy and vegetable proteins but none of these compares in quality to whey protein powder. It also scores highly in providing the branched chain amino acids that are important in the building and retention of muscle.Whey protein is highly favored by bodybuilders because it provides the necessary building blocks to produce the amino acids that the body uses to build lean muscle tissue. Many studies have shown that whey protein contains the perfect combination of amino acids, in just the right concentration for optimal performance in the body. It is also thought that whey protein has a role as an anti-oxidant and immune system builder. It is best taken in powder form mixed in juice or milk, spread throughout the day to maintain a positive nitrogen balance. Serious bodybuilders often consume up to one hundred fifty grams each day but as a rule of thumb, daily protein intake for active trainers can be calculated by taking your weight in pounds and multiplying by one or two. But remember, you need to work out how much protein is taken from food and other sources, and then spread the remaining whey protein balance over the day.Whey protein is a relatively safe supplement but no more than thirty grams of protein should be taken at one sitting as excessive single doses could overload the liver. The safety of whey protein has been well documented in many scientific studies and there is clear proof that taken consistently, coupled with regular exercise, it will result in meaningful muscle gain.
Yes, it tastes absolutely horrid but the health benefits are excellent so worth the bad taste IMO. It helps with healing, bone strength, teeth re-mineralisation, heart and circulatory health and is a very strong anti oxidant. It also has anti bacterial and anti cancer properties notably for prostate cancer. BE WARNED!!! This stuff tends to stick to the teeth if you are not very careful and you could find yourself having to brush your teeth very well to get the stuff off. I used to take it mixed in water and it really stuck to my teeth causing a brown discolouration which was difficult to remove. I now take it mixed with various things such as Proline, Lysine, Ascorbic acid and Magnesium Carbonate for my circulatory health which creates an acid/base reaction (fizz) to create highly absorbable magnesium salts. I also add 0.5ml of Grape seed extract and 1ml of Green Tea extract and the important one.......2 or 3ml of cayenne pepper. The pepper makes it not tastable IMO. Something in the mix also seems to prevent it binding to the teeth. It might be the magnesium but I am not certain about that. The cayenne pepper drives it around the body as a benefit. I take this about 3 times a day. It works for me.Goes Well With:Cayenne Pepper
Well I did the unthinkable...Grape seed extract arrived and I guessed the dosage which was approx. 2 x dessert spoons. Mixed it with my pre mix and thought I was being poisoned! The taste knocked me for six...Most vile tasting supplement ever experienced and I've had many. However, I came on here to sought advice re reviews and thanks to some great guidance re measurement's and methods of downing this product I can now manage it. Looking forward to the benefits of this product...Have been reading a lot of productive and positive results.Goes Well With:Pre workout mix...
Try mixing it with just a small amount of hot water, just enough to mix it into a solution. Once mixed add half a mug of sparkling mineral water (carbonated water). stir gently and drink. It's much better that way and the taste is half decent. Don't ask me how it works but it does. Good stuff.Goes Well With:MSM
At first I took the scoop straight and chased with water... Needed a good swig of milk to kill the taste, but tolerable. Next day I mixed it with 8 oz. Of cold water and it was barely noticeable. The health benefits far outweigh the taste, which again, is not as bad as some might think.
So it tastes bad? If you want good taste then have chocolate! If you want to have an effective supplement which aids your immune system, protect against oxidative damage and maintains the bodies protection against virus then this is the supplement for you. Get creative with what you take the supplement with. I have found that mixed into a Yoghurt this can hardly be noticed. Remember the serving size! Goes Well With:Yoghurt Hot drinks Cordial juice
Great product. Its enough to take 300 mg a day to reap all the benefits. Its not in the how much you take but how long you take it and I recomend take it whol life for general health.Goes Well With:Mega green tea , reservatrol ,sleep and water .
it is short shelf life it is about one year so if i used it after this shelf life but within 6 month after is it ok or not? i asked for research work not for drinking
I agree with the previous reviewer who said this is the most vile supplement on this website, the most disgusting thing ever made in the history of mankind. I mean, I too have taken all sorts of different supplements - I take Creatine Ethyl Ester and I don't complain ffs. CEE is bad, but the taste washes off quickly. This is an entirely different beast altogether. I first tried mixing it with a bit of water, but the taste was so vile I thought I must have done something wrong. Plus it wouldn't dissolve, so the powder ended up stuck to my mouth and all the way down my throat. Water does nothing to wash it off, it's a bit like pure cocoa powder in texture. But foul tasting. So next time I decided to swallow the powder straight from the spoon and wash it down with water. It's only 1/4 of a spoon, right? How bad can it be? VERY BAD! ! ! 15 minutes later, I was throwing up violently and foaming from the mouth like a rabid dog. The retching and foaming lasted the whole day. Throwing up brown foam. The stuff is astringent so it sucks the water out of your mouth, your tongue, your throat, your stomach. Never, never again. The creatine tastes nice in comparison. I have ordered gelatin capsules and will try one last time to do it that way, as I would like to experience the benefits of it, but honestly... I'm scared!Goes Well With:A bucket.
I got a pound of this stuff and I am considering throwing it out. This stuff taste absolutely horrible. If they want to sell this stuff they would have to mix it with something. They could start with some anti-nausea medication like Ginger root. I thought for sure I was going throw-up for a half hour after taking it. My mouth was also watering like a dog's with mouth disease. They need to mix this stuff with something to make it more palatable.Goes Well With:Nothing
I can't rate effectiveness... I read the reviews but thought it couldn't be that bad...! Silly me!...Omg that really tastes like hell! I won't be able to carry on with it :(
Had this for week now, been drinking 3 teaspoons if it a day with orange juice, has a cinnamon like texture but no real taste. So far I haven't felt any difference at all and quite frankly I'm still not sure what it is supposed to do. Goes Well With:Fresh orange juice
I just bought this Grape Seed Extract due to its amazing health properties. I had read the reviews here, but considering myself fairly hardy to bad tastes having necked many foul tasting supplements before this I considered it a challenge and made a shot of water with a half teaspoon of this stuff mixed in. I swilled it around for a bit. Then realising how naive I had been, I quickly downed the shot to get it over with. This is most vile tasting stuff on God's green Earth. For something so natural it tastes wholly unnatural. I'd rather neck a shot of creosote if it offered the same health benefits. I had to suppress my gag reflex for 5 minutes to keep it down. Health wise, it's great stuff.
I don't know why people are complaining about the taste of this Grape Seed Extract. On it's own or with water its not nice, but simply put a 1/4 teaspoon or a bit more if desired in a homemade smoothie and you can't even taste it!
I know this Grape Seed Extract tastes gross but the benefits are great. What I do is add boiling water to around 100g porridge oats, stirring continuously and leave to for a couple minutes. I then add 50g of strawberry protein powder, 1/4 teaspoon of grape seed extract, sometimes 1 teaspoon of superfood xs, stir it all in with 1 or 2 teaspoons of honey and 2 or 3 teaspoons of peanut butter.
If you believe the research on Grape Seed Extract, it is one of the most powerful antioxidants available. 1/4 teaspoon of this should provide far greater protection than e.g. 5g of Superfood XS. And it goes a lot further. It is, if you like, a 'Super antioxidant'. That's the good news. Here comes the sting in the tail. This is the worst-tasting supplement on this, or any other website. In any galaxy within 9000000000000 light years. And I reckon I've tried most of them. Don't say I didn't warn you! The solution... Put a shot of water in the bottom of a glass tumbler. Drop 1/4 teaspoon of this on the surface of the water. It will float, do not stir it in. The trick is to throw it straight down your throat in one movement, without it touching the sides of your mouth. It can be done, and once you've perfected it, you'll manage it almost every time. Personally, I lubricate my gob first with a bit of flax oil. This might also aid absorption. Have some water at hand to wash down any residual taste and you're sorted. Of course, you could just buy capsules elsewhere, but you'll get half the amount for twice the money. Your choice, punter...Goes Well With:Romantic literature. Cucumber sandwiches. Are you kidding? Just swallow it and stop whining!
"I use 2.5 g per day split into 2 doses as detailed above when training (4 times per week) not taking any on my non training days. Overall my sex drive, stamina and recovery have rocketed due to the anti -estrogenic effects provided by the dose I am taking. Having researched Grape Seed Extract there is currently no reccommende maximum dose. However, I have yet to experince any negative side effects."
"I appreciate it is said to be one of the best antioxidants, but it tastes so horrid I had to bin it in the end after many attempts to persevere. Tried to mix it with water in a shot glass and have all at once, still felt sick in the stomach after that. Would definitely buy it again, but only and exceptionally if it is sold in capsules as it was simply unbearable to consume as is - so bitter and binding as if the tongue is tyred up in a knot."
"It's hard to say if this product had helped me in any way I would notice though this is known to be a powerful anti-oxidant, said to reduce oxidative stress on the body etc, which is all good. Personally, if I am honest, I'd much prefer to buy this product (with the horrid taste) sold in caps as capping this powder for myself can get quite messy and consuming this power as it is, can be quite difficult for its gross taste."
"My top tip is to get a shot glass, fill with liquid, measure and tap it onto the surface of the liquid - it floats - and then knock it back like a shot. It's 99% taste free once you smack it back. This is an excellent antioxidant but the taste might hold some back from gaining the amazing benefits."
