Tastes absolutely vile, almost like drinking chalk. However, 2 stars because it doesnt make me bloated like whey has been doing I'll try it in recipes rather than just as a drink.Goes Well With:Not spinach!
I got the unflavoured stuff, i have tried to mask the taste with a number of things with very little success. There is no escaping the texture which is like fine sand. Does the job. It's protein. I wouldn't go for it again if I'm honest at least it's taste will ensure you won't be drinking it when you don't really need to. And no one will be stealing a scoop.Goes Well With:Strong flavours swiftly followed by a glass of water
Good luck keeping this down - this and MP HEMP protein are like tasting the devils love juice! Goes Well With:The Rubbish bin
The reason I searched for this product was I had started cycling 5 hours a week in addition to upper body strength work and was losing a lot of weight (muscle mass because I've always been lean) and a type of therapist/nutritionist called a kinesiologist recommended I add a protein supplement to help. I've been using this product for more than a year and it's just great. I add it to a daily vegetable based shake consisting of spinach, celery, cucumber, apple or banana or avocado with some milled flax seed. I've tried hemp protein and that's good too but a bit stronger taste. I also add Pea protein to high fruit and nut oat based cereal and that makes the cereal taste better for me. I'm still lean but my weight has increased to a point that I'm happy with. Goes Well With:Vegetable/fruit smoothies and cereals to add protein.
Gonna keep this short and sweet. This is a great product but the taste is horrendous. Tastes like wet cardboard. Mix it with 1 small tablespoon of cocoa powder (not hot chocolate, it has to be pure cacao powder. And add in1 tablespoon of honey. Trust me, it tastes so much better. It will be much easier to drink. Goes Well With:Cocoa and Honey
A good way to get some vegan protein and this is the main thing. However, the taste !!! When I opened the bag it smelt like wall plaster. When I mixed it with water and tasted it, it had the consistency and taste of wall plaster. I have since tried mixing it with soya milk and the taste is slightly better but still to be endured. It is also very gritty. I'll use it all but whether i'll buy more is undecided, especially as it seems quite expensive compared to the whey protein I used to order in my pre vegan days.Goes Well With:A plastering trowel and a bare wall.
I originally purchased this in a 1kg bag. The item was a little gritty but easy to mix and went down easy enough. I've since purchased it twice and the following two deliveries were like wallpaper paste. They were ultra smooth, sickly and took a gallon of water to get to a drinkable level. Something is definitely not right but MP don't seem to want to acknowledge it.Goes Well With:Wallpaper!
May not taste as good as dairy products but this stuff is better for you in the long run. Excellent source of plant based protein for those who want to keep away from animal based proteins and dairy products. Can't fault it.
Excellent. I found this very easy to mix and virtually flavourless. Excellent value compared to store bought versions. Will buy again :-)
It has strong pea post-tase. While you are drinking it is ok, but 1-2 sec after your swallow... Recomended with other sweat taste. Not recomended as a standalone product.Goes Well With:Creatine monohydrate
Great service. Too soon to know if it is being beneficial but mixed with water, apple & cucumber, very palatable!
Only been using it for a couple of weeks , but it's holding it own , time will tell . I will start with the taste , read loads of reviews saying it tasted awful , you can't taste it in a smoothie . If I can't make a smoothie , then a dash of strawberry crusha helps it down . It mixes well , but you do need to add a little more water than it says , otherwise you can pretty much eat the mix . As I said earlier li seems to be holding up well , as one of the few protein shakes I can have ( due to a dairy intolerance its very good . Goes Well With:Peanut butter , bananas and strawberry crusha
This pea powder is really good. I don't know why people are leaving bad reviews about the taste, obviously you don't just drink this with water I mean it's powdered peas what do you expect! Make some nice post work out smoothies with this and some banana + strawberry etc. excellent!Goes Well With:fruit smoothies
positives: -good amino acid profile -non gmo -cheapest vegan protein you can get -80% protein -easy digestion unlike animal proteins negs: -taste is sour. mix it 50/50 with instant oats and you have a delicious meal. -no statement on how its grown -no statement on extraction method Goes Well With:powdered oats
I recently purchased a 2.5kg pouch of this after reading many good things about it. It is effective and does the job, but drinking it isn't the nicest at all. I had to purchase a blender to mix it with things like bananas and berries but it still has a very dry powdery texture and a nasty taste to it. Drinking it on its own is awful, it is bearable and you get more used to it, but definitely would recommend purchasing a blender if you're going to purchase this protein powder.Goes Well With:Milk & Bananas/ Any Berries
I love the fact that the nutrients are amazingly good with this product like really high in protein and low in carbs and fats which is great as I am cutting however. It tastes awful. I cannot stand the taste as it is bland. Although I bought the flavourless bag and tried adding flavour with the Stevia flavour drops and Syrup. It doesn't mask the horrible taste of the protein powder. I have tried other brans of Pea protein with flavour and I will not be using this one again as it has the worst flavour I have ever tasted. Sorry 'MyProtein' Must try harder.Goes Well With:the dustbin
I wouldn't recommend this product because of its awful taste and bad mixability. Otherwise it has a good nutritional profile and price. I'm not that picky when it comes to taste of protein, but the only way I could drink this was mixing it with banana. Hopefully Myprotein will make a flavoured version in the future.Goes Well With:banana
Well, long story short. Been ill due to Rta /accident lost a lot of weight. Also lactose/gluten intolerant. So nothing to lose I thought. Well four day's in and quick review. Rating 4 stars, could go up or down dependant on longer use effectiveness. Taste 3 stars, neither good nor bad. Plain is the best way of describing it. That is on its own with water. Just to let you know, I like peas. Mixability 5 stars, fantastic just great, no grit, no aftertaste. Effectiveness 4 stars, only four days in, and I have gained 3 pounds, changing nothing else but taking this protein shake. After working out. I now use it with toffee and banana flavdrops, I have also used rice and coconut/rice milk. The taste with rice milk and either of these flavours is fantastic, well up to a creamy rich tasting shake. Will keep mixing and we shall see, fruit etc, etc. So not so short after all!. But if you want to regain some weight and hold onto some definition, with a lacto gluten prob give it a go. Another reviewer mentioned that the product is made in a factory that uses gluten products, my stomach could not tell and believe me it would.. Later.Goes Well With:Flavdrops Coconut milk Rice milk
This tastes awful! The only way I can use it is if I cook with it as i still want to use it. The food has to be spicy too, its fine in chilli or Curry's. As for shakes it tastes like the greenest, grassyiest tasting drink you'll ever have. But in all it does what its supposed to. Goes Well With:Cooking it in with spicy foods
I was highly sceptical before using this product. Since I became vegetarian at the beginning of this year I have been trying to cut down my consumption of dairy products whilst maintaining a reasonable level of protein to maintain (not necessarily build) muscle whilst attending the gym. As a result, pea protein was a highly logical change to make. In reading reviews I became increasingly concerned with the reviews regarding taste, however when I decided I happily eat most things without minding the taste I decided that it was worth a shot as a cheap, more sustainable and healthy (in my opinion) alternative. On first trying the product I must admit the taste was different, it is important to remember unflavoured does not mean no flavour, it does taste uniquely like pea protein. However, those who simply cannot stomach it must have been getting used to these cute soft fruit flavours for a little too long. The taste is not bad, and in my opinion quite good, just accept it, have it for a week and you will soon be drinking it with no problem, and who knows maybe some pleasure. I feel adding to it anything but water is unnecessary as it only makes whatever you add it to taste 'off' or different, something no one is ever ready for. Other than that I have found it highly effective and MyProtein have been as sick as ever!Goes Well With:water, keep it simple
