What are Organic Cacao Butter Buttons?
The Cacao Bean is the dried and fully fermented seed of the Theobroma Cacao tree from which cocoa solids and cocoa butter are extracted.
Cacao butter is made by pressing ground, milled Cacao nibs to make a cocoa paste. This process separates the butter from the powder. Unlike cocoa butter, cacao butter is obtained from raw cacao nibs, whilst cocoa butter is obtained from roasted cacao nibs. The butter is solidified and moulded into button shapes. Cocoa butter contains a high proportion of saturated fats derived from stearic acid and palmitic acid. Our Organic Cacao Butter is certified organic by the Soil Association under the code GB-ORG-05.
