I stumbled across this 'cheese' by accident, found on the shelf of a local supermarket. Intrigued, by its low fat claim and proclamation of flavour, I thought why not give it a try. Now, my measure of any food product is primarily TASTE, otherwise, why bother? The high protein 'fashion' is not my concern, low fat, very desirable, it means in essence a decent portion, without the nagging concern, what was not apparent from the pack, was levels of calcium, a useful measure for both growing children and aging adults. This I am pleased to say, I found on my site search, and a very healthy level of calcium is claimed. This, for me is good news, when measured against the claimed ow fat levels, a sort of double bonus. Thats where the good news ends, because, as I started, taste is always going to be a driver, and this stuff lacks flavour big time. Its the sort of low level, mild mannered 'soap' you find in many supermarket brands of 'mild cheddar', which really is nothing like Cheddar, it does not have to bite your head off to have true depth of flavour. Indeed there are some wonderful goa tcheeses out in the market, that are not going to attack your tongue but still have a deep and satisfying taste. The fact that this cheese, is a bit 'rubbery' does not bother me, if the rich flavours were there, but they're not, so the 'plastic' texture, whilst easy to slice, adds to the negative side. Because I need to take Calcium, and I like cheese generally, but am careful about quantity, this sort of wins a reprieve for the time being, I will try it in cooked food maybe, as an alternative to haloumi, sat astride a Portbello mushroom and grilled, the jury is out, but surely its not beyond saving with a bit of a boost, lift it up from a mild indifference, into at least a mellowed marvel. Goes Well With:Does it? thats the question, yet to be proven.
I have previously tried the unflavoured variety of this cheese and considering all the nutritional benefits over normal cheese found it a great choice. This time I also ordered the smoked variety. It has the expected smokey taste and will be another great alternative for snacking or adding to omelettes etc. One thing to note here is that the nutritional information for the SMOKED variety is different per 100g to the unsmoked figures shown in the product information. Energy 183kCal Fat 1.7g Carbs 4.0g Protein 38g Salt 1.6g The main difference for me is the unsmoked 0g Carbs compared with 4g for the smoked.
Taste similar to whole fat cheese but It's hard to mix it.
I'd heard mixed reviews about this, but being a cheese lover (who eats clean so generally avoid cheese :() I thought it was about time I gave it a try.. and I was pleasantly surprised! Decent flavour and good macros, the only downside is the price (and having to pa for delivery every time I order cheese now!)Goes Well With:Good for home made healthy PIZZA!
Great tasting cheese that's full of protein. What more could you ask forGoes Well With:My protein bread
I love !! this product. I'm a diabetic and disabled, with limited mobility l also need to loose weight so this product is a life saver . While my family were eating cheese on toast or mac"n"cheese l was unable to share thier meals as the carbs and fat content was too high . With myprotein low fat cheese l can now enjoy eating cheese meals and snack on it as well because with no carbs and virtually no fat it more than appropriate for me. In 7 weeks l have lost 5kg and l'm eating cheese with everything . It honestly has changed my life! !!! Goes Well With:Everything! !!!!
The cheese is no longer sent via a chilled consignment so it was spoiled when arrived.
Great cheese that hits the spot. I like the fact that it is high in Protein and very low in fats and carbs and I can add it to my food without the worry of going over my macros.Goes Well With:Frahitas, Chicken, Omelette
Great cheese but Could you make an Organic version of it ! It would be great to have the MYPROTEIN Organic Protein cheese :)Goes Well With:Protein bread
This cheese is great, I'm a mild cheddar fan and while this cheese is harder and less creamy than cheddar it tastes great. It's best melted, starts to taste really creamy and goes so nice in my meal preps on chicken
Finally can enjoy a cheese filled meal without feeling any regret! Looks a bit gross and tastes a bit weird on it owns but obviously it would, perfect for melting on to healthy mini pizzas !!! And taste goodGoes Well With:Mini pizzas! ( wraps with tomato and protein cheese and other toppings ) oven for 15 minutes! Perfect
Excellent alternative to full or reduced fat cheese. Melts well under the grill and tastes great. Very low fat and high protein makes this a guilt free snack.
very good cheese low in calories this is the main reason i bought it more or less the same as other cheese but better for youGoes Well With:everything
Much better than I expected Goes Well With:Grated with salad and melts lovely
This stuff is delicious, it's just like real cheddar and the price is about the same too. There's literally no reason not to switch to this if you're looking for a lower fat cheese. The texture is a bit like a cheddar that's been left our the wrapper in the fridge, more dry than creamy, cause it's got no fat in it. I happen to really like this though. Goes Well With:Pickle, salad, ham, dipped in boiled eggs!
I don't have a sugar tooth and I find beef jerky / protein bar far too expensive... What a discovery ! I like the taste and texture, even use it melted in my sandwichs.. I'm addicted and use it nearly with all my meals I think the next step to improve it would be to add different flavor (like a black pepper cheese, herbs, cajun etc... ) Thanks for this great product !!! 4KG on the way ;-)Goes Well With:Bread Pasta Crackers Cherry tomatoes
This stuff does just taste like your standard mild low fat cheddar but its nutrional info is great! Only 2 grams of fat per 100?! I put this stuff on a home made low cal pizza and it tasted pretty good! Goes Well With:Bread!
When it was delivered on a hot day it was sweating and wet and turned a funny colour I would suggest during summer months you use some other form of packaging to keep it cool
Great substitute, high protein low fat,Goes Well With:Brilliant grated on a spag bol
This cheese has made dieting so much more interesting! Melts well, tastes good (you can tell it's healthy though) well done my protein!! Goes Well With:Omelette!
